I grew up in Jackson, Michigan and am the daughter of two artists. I credit my parents' encouragement of creativity, for my early interest in all forms of art; drawing, sculpture, architecture, even writing and music. My interest in art and design grew into a true life-altering passion in the latter part of high school. My first bachelor's degree, received in December of 2008 (from Eastern Michigan University) was a Bachelor of Science in Art and Human Environments. Most of the curriculum in my art major was drawing based, with specific attention to alternative methods and materials. The human environments minor, was a way for me to explore the way people live, and respond to aesthetics in their built environment. Throughout my first degree, I learned a great deal about color theory, principles and elements of design, and drawing techniques. I developed a strong interest in medical imagery, and the study of the micro world in my art, and the built 'macro' world of design from individual homes, to cities, to entire countries. Exploring the way that the built environment emulates even the smallest patterns of nature, has been a source of inspiration for much of my artwork, and my design work.

In the fall of 2009, I returned to Eastern Michigan University to complete my Second Bachelors in Interior Design, which is still underway.

My interest in art has also impacted my response to needs in my community. I've been an Art Merit Badge Counselor for the past four years for the Boy Scouts of America. I've also taught at several day camps for the Girl Scouts of America, and often offer my assistance with community projects involving creative solutions.

I consider myself, as I do any creative project, a work-in-progress so I am continuing to develop a design approach that suits my talents, and inspires me. I do know, that I want to be a part of creative solutions, to the needs in our spaces in a way that is beautiful, loving, and considerate of the environment. I believe the very quality of one's life, can be deeply affected by design, it is my hope to design accordingly — not only with current inhabitants in mind, but future generations as well.
